We are all very proud to announce that at the South Central Ambulance’s Ambies 2016 awards, Barry was shortlisted for the Volunteer Of The Year award for all the work he does for our scheme.  Whilst sadly he did not win, this is the second time that Barry has been shortlisted for this award, which is a unqiue situation as we do not believe anyone else holds that accolade.  perhaps third time luck eh Barry?

We were once again very happy and pleased to be invited back to the Swallowfield Church Fete.  The weather held on the whole and the Fete saw hundreds of people attending.  at one point there was not a single chair left around the tea tent and it looked like the whole or the vicinity had descended to partake in afternoon tea and cakes!

We were busier than normal with lots of people wanting to try CPR and / or the AED.. We put this down to our bigger Gazebo where we now have much more space.Swallowfield Church fete 2016 2 Swallowfield Church fete 2016 1

About 45 people attended, including Tom, one of the early responders who is now a Paramedic for the London Ambulance Service.

It was a great night and Ian was presented with a little “momento” of his front line days: a remote control version of our car – Happy Driving Ian!

We must also thank the Wellington Country Farm Shop for their kind donation of some of the cheese for the Evening:

Queens Award

Earlier in the year the Berkshire Community Foundation nominated us for the above award, which is to recognise groups of volunteers for all of the hard work that they put into the community. It is the equivalent of the MBE for groups. We were of course extremely delighted and very honoured to have been nominated.

Even though our nomination made it through to the final judging panel, sadly we were not given an award for this year. Whilst we were obviously disappointed, the fact that we were nominated and made it through to the final selections is a tremendous achievement and one which we are all extremely proud of. We thank the Berkshire Community Foundation for nominating us in the first place and to the two people who sent in letters of support for our nomination.
